Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, Trauma Intensive Care Unit, Medical University of Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria.
Purpose Of Review: Fluid management in hemorrhagic shock is a controversial topic, and there are evolving clinical guidelines and evidence-based practice. This review aims to highlight the physiological aspects in the light of current evidence on which volume replacement solution to use.
Recent Findings: Current evidence and international guidelines are shifting from a liberal to a restrictive fluid resuscitation strategy, emphasizing the potential risks associated with aggressive fluid therapy.

Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Université de Paris, Hôpital Beaujon, AP-HP, Clichy, France.
Background: Perioperative management practices in liver transplantation (LT) evolve very quickly. There are few specific recommendations, often based on a low level of evidence, resulting in wide heterogeneity of practices.
Methods: We performed a survey in all 16 French centers in 2021 by focusing on center organization, preoperative cardiovascular assessment, antimicrobial prophylaxis, hemostasis management, intraoperative use of hemodynamic monitoring and renal replacement therapy, immunosuppression, and postoperative prevention of arterial complications and compared it with current recommendations.

This session presented emerging realworld evidence on novel glucocorticoid (GC) sparing therapies for ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV). It covered the first-in-class oral C5a receptor antagonist avacopan for severe granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) and microscopic polyangiitis (MPA), and antiinterleukin-5 therapies in the management of eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA). Avacopan was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Medicines Agency (EMA) for the treatment of AAV in 2021, following the phase 3 ADVOCAT E trial comparing oral avacopan to an oral GC taper for GPA and MPA.

The plenary session on clinically relevant outcomes in systemic vasculitis emphasized the significance of monitoring creatinine, haematuria and proteinuria for predicting renal outcomes, recovery of kidney function in severe ANCA glomerulonephritis and outcomes post-kidney transplantation in anti-glomerular basement membrane disease. These findings have the potential to enhance clinical practice by refining prognostication and treatment strategies. Future research gaps include exploring the predictive role of proteinuria and understanding the impact of different clinical phenotypes on disease outcomes in Takayasu arteritis.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a substantial contributor to global mortality, requiring interventions like kidney transplantation and dialysis. Peritoneal dialysis (PD) has emerged as an effective dialytic modality despite the susceptibility to peritonitis. The study aimed to determine the prevalence of peritonitis among PD patients, elucidating pivotal factors affecting its occurrence, causative bacterial agents, and treatment outcomes (mortality rates, removal of the Tenckhoff catheter, and switch to hemodialysis).
