The authors describe a case of a post-traumatic subdural haematoma with an unusual evolution in two phases, one slow, the other very rapid. The rapidity of the evolution was caused by the rupture of a cortical dural artery, shown angiographically.

: Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) represents a rare autoimmune disease with granulomatous inflammation, tissue necrosis, and systemic vasculitis of the small and medium blood vessels. Although the clinical elements vary, aortic involvement is exceptional and it represents a challenge that requires a rapid intervention with the potential of displaying a fulminant evolution. : We report a 64-year-old male with an 18-year history of GPA who presented atypical low back pain.

The worldwide distributed family Allocreadiidae Looss, 1902 is predominantly parasitic in freshwater fish and occasionally in amphibians and reptiles. It contains 15 genera, of which only Allocreadium, Creptotrema, Wallinia and Creptotrematina have been reported in Argentina. The records of Allocreadium species still require further verification.

Visible light-driven pyridoxal radical biocatalysis has emerged as a new strategy for the stereoselective synthesis of valuable noncanonical amino acids in a protecting-group-free fashion. In our previously developed dehydroxylative C-C coupling using engineered PLP-dependent tryptophan synthases, an enzyme-controlled unusual α-stereochemistry reversal and pH-controlled enantiopreference were observed. Herein, through high-throughput photobiocatalysis, we evolved a set of stereochemically complementary PLP radical enzymes, allowing the synthesis of both l- and d-amino acids with enhanced enantiocontrol across a broad pH window.

Sea urchins, integral to marine ecosystems and valued as a delicacy in Asia and Europe, contain physiologically important long-chain (>C) polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) in their gonads, including arachidonic acid (ARA, 20:4n-6), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 20:5n-3) and unusual non-methylene-interrupted fatty acids (NMI-FA) such as 20:2. Although these fatty acids may partially be derived from their diet, such as macroalgae, the present study on has uncovered multiple genes encoding enzymes involved in long-chain PUFA biosynthesis. Specifically, 3 fatty acid desaturases (FadsA, FadsC1 and FadsC2) and 13 elongation of very-long-chain fatty acids proteins (Elovl-like, Elovl1/7-like, Elovl2/5-like, Elovl4-like, Elovl8-like and Elovl6-like A-H) were identified in their genome and transcriptomes.
