By the use of complement fixation and in vivo immunofluorescence with cross-absorption studies it was shown that acid soluble collagens prepared from rat, mouse, guinea pig, chicken, carp, and man exhibit species specificity. Rat and mouse collagens were found to be indistinguishable and to cross-react with guinea pig collagen. Cross-reactions also occurred between the collagens of rat and man and chicken and man. Tissue specificity, or an antigen common to all of the collagens, was not demonstrated. There was complete agreement in the results of the two immunologic methods. The findings in this study support the conclusion that collagen in some form is present in the renal glomerular basement membranes.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, systemic autoimmune disease characterized by chronic inflammation of the synovium and progressive joint damage. Fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLSs) exhibit excessive proliferative and aggressive phenotypes and play a major role in the pathophysiology of RA. Previous studies have confirmed the pathologic role of L-selectin in cell adhesion and migration.

Sepsis is often a cause of mortality in patients admitted to the intensive care unit. Notably, the heart is the organ most susceptible to the impact of sepsis and this condition is referred to as sepsis‑induced cardiomyopathy (SIC). Low triiodothyronine (T3) syndrome frequently occurs in patients with sepsis, and the heart is one of the most important target organs for the action of T3.

Murine neonatal neutrophil depletion strategies have problems achieving deep neutrophil clearance and accurate residual neutrophil fraction detection. An isotype switch method can achieve profound neutrophil clearance using a combination of anti-Ly6G and anti-rat κ Ig light chain antibodies in adult C57Bl/6 mice, proven by extra- and intracellular Ly6G detection by flow cytometry. We adapted this technique to neonatal mice, testing four neutrophil depletion strategies in the peripheral circulation, bone marrow, and spleen.

Since abdominal adhesion are quite problematic in abdominal and pelvic surgery, the conventional HA/CMC film are commonly used as an anti-adhesive material. However, such types are difficult to be rolled and delivered through the port of laparoscopic surgical devices due to adherence to the laparoscopic port or other parts of the films. To create an anti-adhesion film with more favorable handling properties and anti-adhesive effect, we developed a novel punctate uneven gelatin film (PU GF).

As the first mammal to be domesticated for research purposes, rats served as the primary animal model for various branches of biomedical research, including breast cancer studies, up until the late 1990s and early 2000s. During this time, genetic engineering of mice, but not rats, became routine, and mice gradually supplanted rats as the preferred rodent model. But recent advances in creating genetically engineered rat models, especially with the assistance of CRISPR/Cas9 technology, have rekindled the significance of rats as a critical model in exploring various facets of breast cancer research.
