An RNA fraction, which represents a small percentage of cellular RNA and which has the characteristics of nuclear messenger RNA, has been isolated from the spleen and lymph nodes of immunized rats by successive phenol extractions of these tissues at increasing temperatures. This fraction increased the amount of protein synthesized in a cell-free extract of Escherichia coli as much as 35 times and directed the synthesis of proteins different from those of E. coli.

Photocatalytic reduction of nitrate to N holds great significance for environmental governance. However, the selectivity of nitrate reduction to N is influenced by sacrificial agents and the kinds of cocatalysts (such as Pt and Ag). The presence of unconsumed sacrificial agents can aggravate environmental pollution, while noble metal-based cocatalysts increase application costs.

The design of metalloproteins allows us to better understand metal complexation in proteins and the resulting function. In this study, we incorporated a Cu-binding site into a natural protein domain, the 58 amino acid c-Crk-SH3, to create a miniaturized superoxide dismutase model, termed SO1. The resulting low complexity metalloprotein was characterized for structure and function by circular dichroism and UV spectroscopy as well as EPR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography.

The sluggish kinetics of the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) result in a high overpotential in alkaline solutions. A high-curvature metal oxide heterostructure can effectively boost the electrocatalytic HER by leveraging the tip-enhanced local electric field effect. Herein, NiP/NiMoO nanocones were synthesised on a nickel foam (NF) substrate by etching a metal-organic framework template.

Formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI) perovskite films, ensuring optically active phase purity with uniform crystal orientation, are ideal for photovoltaic applications. However, the optically active α-FAPbI phase is easy to degrade into δ-phase due to numerous defects within randomly oriented films. Here, a "quasi-2D" perovskite template is pre-deposited on the film surface within the crystallization process based on the two-step preparation technology, which directly induced pure and highly orientated crystallization of α-FAPbI across the downward growth process.

Three new pyridine derivatives, irpelactedines A-C (1-3), and a new furan derivative, irpelactedine D (5), along with two structurally related known compounds, irpexidine A (4) and 5-carboxy-2-furanpropanoic acid (6), were isolated from the medicinal fungus Irpex lacteus SY1002. Their structures were elucidated through NMR and mass spectral analyses, combined with density functional theory calculations of ECD data. Evaluation of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity revealed that compounds 1 and 3 displayed moderate inhibition, with IC50 values of 31.
