Phoronida is a small group of marine animals, most of which are characterized by a long larval period and complex metamorphosis. As a result of metamorphosis, their body changes so much that their true anterior and posterior ends are very close to each other, and the intestine becomes long and U-shaped. Using histology and electron microscopy, we have shown that the elongation and change in shape of the digestive tract that occurs during metamorphosis in Phoronopsis harmeri larvae is accompanied by the formation of new parts and changes in ultrastructure.

Polar biaxial crystals with extreme anisotropy hold promise for the spatial control and the manipulation of polaritons, as they can undergo topological transitions. However, taking advantage of these unique properties for nanophotonic devices requires to find mechanisms to modulate dynamically the material response. Here, we present a study on the propagation of surface phonon polaritons (SPhPs) in a photonic architecture based on a thin layer of α-MoO deposited on a semiconducting 4H-SiC substrate, whose carrier density can be tuned through photoinduction.

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is widely used across various industries owing to its versatility and favorable properties, including application in beverage bottles, food containers, textile fibers, engineering resins, films, and sheets. However, polymer materials are susceptible to degradation from factors such as light, oxygen, and heat. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the structural changes that occur during degradation and the extent of these changes.

Elevated temperatures can lead to reabsorption and color drift, compromising the quality of phosphor-converted white light-emitting diode (pc-WLED) devices. To ensure the performance of WLEDs under these conditions, it is essential to develop luminescent materials that maintain stable color. Consequently, there is a pressing need for single-phase white-emitting phosphors with robust chromatic stability.

Owing to their high light absorption coefficient, excellent electronic mobility, and enhanced excitonic effect, two-dimensional (2D) GaN materials hold great potential for applications in optoelectronic and electronic devices. As the metal-semiconductor junction (MSJ) is a fundamental component of semiconductor-based devices, identifying a suitable metal for contacting semiconductors is essential. In this work, detailed first-principles calculations were performed to investigate the contact behavior between the GaN monolayer (ML) and a series of 2D metals MX (M = Nb, Ta, V, Mo, or W; X = S or Se).
