The southeastern region of Tibet, which serves as the primary concentration area for marine-type glaciers, has fostered a multitude of glacial lakes that are highly sensitive to global climate change. Glacial lakes play a crucial role in regulating the freshwater ecosystems of the region, but they also pose a significant threat to local infrastructure and populations due to flooding caused by glacial lake outbursts. Currently, a limited amount of research has focused on the monitoring and analysis of glacial lakes in southeastern Tibet.

Pervasive glacier retreats across Svalbard from 1985 to 2023.

Chair of Data Science in Earth Observation, Department of Aerospace and Geodesy, Technical University of Munich, Munich, Germany.

A major uncertainty in predicting the behaviour of marine-terminating glaciers is ice dynamics driven by non-linear calving front retreat, which is poorly understood and modelled. Using 124919 calving front positions for 149 marine-terminating glaciers in Svalbard from 1985 to 2023, generated with deep learning, we identify pervasive calving front retreats for non-surging glaciers over the past 38 years. We observe widespread seasonal cycles in calving front position for over half of the glaciers.

Soluble starch/zinc oxide nanocomposites could be promising candidates for eco-friendly antimicrobial, food packaging, and a wide range of other utilization. In order to find a new way for the preparation of this kind of nanocomposites, an efficient and energy-saving reaction for the synthesis of soluble starch/zinc oxide nanocomposites has been investigated. The reaction was implemented in a solid state at room temperature without post-reaction calcination.

Tough, highly conductive and frost-resistant chitosan based hydrogel for flexible sensor.

Int J Biol Macromol

January 2025

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Anhui University, Hefei 230601, China. Electronic address:

Conductive hydrogels with exceptional mechanical properties have received extensive attention in flexible strain sensors. However, there is still a huge challenge in the preparation of hydrogels with high toughness, conductivity and frost resistance performance. In this study, the prepared PA-PAAM-CS (PPAC) composite hydrogels were obtained by incorporating phytic acid (PA) and chitosan (CS) into poly(acrylamide-co-stearyl methacrylate) (PAAM) polymer network.

College of Horticulture, Henan Agricultural University, Zhengzhou, China; Henan Engineering and Technology Center for Peach Germplasm Innovation and Utilization, Zhengzhou, China; International Joint Laboratory of Henan Horticultural Crop Biology, Zhengzhou, China. Electronic address:

Background: With the development of sequencing technology and the rapid increasing in the number of sequenced genomes, lineage-specific genes (LSGs) have been identified and characterized across various species. Similar to other conserved functional genes, LSGs play a crucial role in biological evolution and development. However, the understanding of LSGs remains limited.
