We present a rare case of follow-up by neuroimaging in a 57-year-old man with a previous pneumoencephalography to evaluate ventricular tuberculosis (TB). Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the whole head was performed at 3T using T1-weighted magnetization-prepared rapid gradient echo (T1-MPRAGE). A full quantitative sensory testing battery on the forearm was also performed, alongside a brief clinical examination.

From the early days of pneumoencephalography and ventriculography to the emerging technology of magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) of the present day, neuroimaging has always been a critical tool in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric hydrocephalus. There is accumulating evidence from both human and animal research suggesting that one of the major pathophysiological mechanisms underlying poor outcomes in these children is damage to vulnerable white matter (WM) structures in the brain as a result of ventricular enlargement and increased intracranial pressure. However, a clear understanding of these WM abnormalities and their implications on neurobehavioral outcomes in these patients is not well understood.

The surgical management of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) rhinorrhoea has changed significantly after the introduction of functional endoscopic sinus surgery. The clear anatomical exposure of the roof of the nasal and paranasal sinus cavities by the endoscope offers the surgeon a golden chance to identify the area of CSF leak, and thus enables one to adequately plan the management. The aim of this work is to evaluate the use of facia lata sandwich graft technique for endoscopic endonasal repair of CSF rhinorrhoea.

The beginning of neuroradiology can be traced to the early 1900s with the use of skull radiographs. Ventriculography and pneumoencephalography were introduced in 1918 and 1919, respectively, and carotid angiography, in 1927. Technical advances were made in these procedures during the next 40 years that lead to improved diagnosis of intracranial pathology.
