Background: Female Condoms are 90-95% effective against HIV transmission when correctly and consistently used and are also cost-effective. In general, condoms prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unwanted pregnancies. Improving physical balance among older workers is essential for preventing falls in workplace. We aimed to elucidate the age-related decline in one-leg standing time with eyes closed, an indicator of static balance, and mitigating influence of daily walking habits on this decline in Japan. This longitudinal study involved 249 manufacturing workers, including seven females, aged 20-66 years engaged in tasks performed at height in the aircraft and spacecraft machinery industry.

Using a genome-scale, functional screen of Plasmodium sexual replication, Sayers et al. identified over 300 genes essential for malaria transmission through the mosquito, providing many new candidates for drug and vaccine development.

Background: Tremor, either in patients with Essential Tremor (ET) or Parkinson's disease (PD), constitutes the most common movement disorder. Stereotactic radiosurgery using Gamma Knife (GK) and linear accelerator (LINAC) systems, is an effective, incisionless treatment modality for ET and PD. Although these technologies have been used clinically since the 1990's, most studies have focused on GK, and efficacy, safety and time to treatment effect (latency) of GK and LINAC have not been compared.
