1-Aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) is a direct precursor of phytohormone ethylene. We used a phenyl isothiocyanate (PITC) derivatization modification method combined with spectrographic analysis to isolate and identify three products of the derivatization reactions of ACC and PITC. The MRM mode of UPLC-MS/MS was used to establish the analysis of 6-phenyl-5-thioxo-4,6-diazaspiro[2.

Background: The development of fungicides with low cross resistance, high efficacy and low resistance plays a central role in protecting crops, reducing yield losses, improving quality and maintaining global food security. Based on this important role, after a systematic optimization strategy, novel heterocyclic amide derivatives bearing diphenylmethyl fragment were screened, synthesized and verified with the spectrographic and x-ray diffraction analysis.
Results: In this study, the aforementioned optimization obtained compound B19 that was measured for antifungal activity against Rhizoctonia solani (median effective concentration, EC = 1.

This study examined applications of polarized evanescent guided wave surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy to determine the binding and orientation of small molecules and ligand-modified nanoparticles, and the relevance of this technique to lab-on-a-chip, surface plasmon polariton and other types of field enhancement techniques relevant to Raman biosensing. A simplified tutorial on guided-wave Raman spectroscopy is provided that introduces the notion of plasmonic nanoparticle field enhancements to magnify the otherwise weak TE- and TM-polarized evanescent fields for Raman scattering on a simple plasmonic nanoparticle slab waveguide substrate. The waveguide construct is called an optical chemical bench (OCB) to emphasize its adaptability to different kinds of surface chemistries that can be envisaged to prepare optical biosensors.

Astronomical precision spectroscopy underpins searches for life beyond Earth, direct observation of the expanding Universe and constraining the potential variability of physical constants on cosmological scales. Laser frequency combs can provide the required accurate and precise calibration to the astronomical spectrographs. For cosmological studies, extending the calibration with such astrocombs to the ultraviolet spectral range is desirable, however, strong material dispersion and large spectral separation from the established infrared laser oscillators have made this challenging.
