Purpose: To evaluate the maximal load to failure, cyclic displacement, stiffness, and modes of failure of onlay subpectoral biceps tenodesis with an intramedullary unicortical metal button (MB) versus an inlay, all-suture Caspari-Weber (CW) technique.

Methods: Sixteen matched paired human cadaveric proximal humeri were randomly allocated for subpectoral BT with either CW or MB using a high-strength suture (N = 16; 8 male, 8 female, mean age = 82.5 years, range 62-99 years).

Objectives: To prospectively evaluate the wear of posterior zirconia resin-bonded fixed partial dentures (RBFPDs) with polished occlusal surfaces and their natural enamel antagonists compared to contralateral controls in an enamel-enamel contact over 5 years.

Materials And Methods: In six patients with either an inlay- or wing-retained RBFPD made of monolithic 3 mol% yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (3Y-TZP), wear was evaluated indirectly using baseline and annual polyvinyl siloxane impressions. Resulting gypsum models were digitized and aligned by unchanged surface areas.

To explore the digital design and fabrication technology of personalized restorative matrix for dental filling, and to explore the feasibility of direct resin restoration for deep caries lesions in distal neck of mandibular second molar. For patients with deep caries lesions in the distal neck of the mandibular second molar who visited the Department of Cariology and Endodontology of Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology from September 2023 to April 2024, after preparing the cavity and gingival retractor, a three-dimensional intraoral scanner was used to obtain three-dimensional data of the patient's dentition. In the dental restoration computer-aided design software, the inlay function was used to generate the restored tooth morphology.

Optimizing range of motion in reverse shoulder arthroplasty.

Bone Jt Open

October 2024

Institut de Chirurgie Réparatrice (ICR), Locomoteur & Sports, Nice, France.

Article Synopsis
  • Optimal glenoid positioning in reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) is essential for achieving an impingement-free range of motion (ROM), with the study aiming to identify the best configurations through simulations.
  • A total of 41 patients were evaluated using four different glenoid implant configurations, examining the impact of lateralization and inclination corrections on shoulder ROM.
  • The findings indicated that the configuration with lateralization and RSA angle correction yielded significantly improved ROM across multiple movements, while medialization alone resulted in the poorest ROM outcomes.

The revision of ceramic inlays of acetabular cups is a challenging surgical procedure. The mechanical impact during the inlay extraction process can damage the ceramic or metal cup rim. To avoid these risks, a concept for a new revision procedure was developed.
