Trichobezoar or hairball in the proximal part of the gastrointestinal tract is a rare condition that occurs mainly in young and adolescent females. Since human hair is resistant to digestive enzymes and resistant to peristalsis, it easily accumulates between the folds of the mucosa. Over time, food and mucus accumulate within the hair, forming a compact mass that fills almost the entire lumen.

Trichobezoar with Rapunzel syndrome is a rare condition seen in young females. Refeeding syndrome is a rare phenomenon that can occur in any chronically malnourished person after starting feeds. We discuss and review available literature of extremely rare cases of 11-year-old girl, with trichobezoar with refeeding syndrome with subacute intestinal obstruction in the postoperative period.

Bezoars are indigestible masses of material forming within the gastrointestinal system. Phytobezoars are the most common subtype consisting of plant matter such as fibre, skins, and seeds. Rarely they present causing small bowel obstruction (SBO) and may be difficult to distinguish from faecalization on imaging.

Trichobezoar is a relatively rare condition in children, mainly observed in young girls with psychiatric disorders. While documented cases of trichobezoar associated with celiac disease exist, such occurrences remain uncommon in the literature. The association between the two can be explained either by behavioral disorders resulting from a deficiency in iron and folic acid or directly by celiac disease.
