The periodontal ligament (PDL) is a connective tissue, and PDL cells have a potential to differentiate into cementoblasts, osteoblasts, and gingival fibroblasts. This study investigated whether transcription factor c-Myb could induce differentiation of PDL cells for periodontal regeneration. PDL cells were isolated from extracted teeth and cultured.

Orthopedic screws are widely used to achieve bone reduction, compression, and construct stability. However, the relationship between insertion torque, interfragmentary compression, and fixation strength, especially when comparing standard screws with NiTiNOL/sustained dynamic compression (SDC), has not been thoroughly investigated. This study measured insertion torque, interfragmentary compression, and fixation strength for two types of headed orthopedic devices-standard and SDC-using solid foam bone replicates and cadaver validation.

Background: Perinatal and childhood periods are sensitive windows of development wherein adversity exposure can result in disadvantageous outcomes. Data-driven dimensional approaches that appreciate the co-occurrence of adversities allow for extending beyond specificity (individual adversities) and cumulative risk (non-specific summation of adversities) approaches to understand how the type and timing of adversities affect outcomes.
Objective: With evolving recommendations on what should be important in adversity research, we sought to establish a data-driven framework that accounts for both type and timing of adversity by (1) replicating dimensions of childhood adversities, (2) determining whether perinatal adversities form unique dimensions and (3) identifying whether adversities during the perinatal and childhood periods overlap or remain distinct.

Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) is an emerging pathogen that causes porcine dermatitis, and reproductive failure. PCV3 Cap interacts with DExD/H-box helicase 36 (DHX36), a protein that functions primarily through regulating interferon (IFN)-β production. However, how the interaction between DHX36 and PCV3 Cap regulates viral replication remains unknown.

This study investigated proprioceptive acuity using the conventional joint position reproduction (JPR) task and a modified version, the Dynamic JPR task (D-JPR), during Concentric and Eccentric muscle contractions. Seventeen participants were recruited and received a tactile stimulus indicating the position cue at Initial (INI), Intermediate (INT), and Final (FIN) phases of movements, during either the concentric or eccentric phases. After the movement, they replicated the position where they received the stimulus.
