Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) usually causes mild, self-limiting, or asymptomatic infection in children, typically infectious mononucleosis. The severe course is more common in immunocompromised patients. Neurological complications of primary infection, reactivation of the latent infection, or immune-mediated are well-documented.

Background And Aims: Intravenous sedation during spinal anesthesia has the advantages of increased duration of spinal anesthesia and better postoperative pain control. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of intravenous bolus and infusion of dexmedetomidine versus ketamine given intraoperative on the postoperative analgesia in fracture femur patients operated under subarachnoid block.
Material And Methods: In this prospective randomized double-blind controlled study, 75 patients aged 18-65 years posted for elective surgery were selected and randomly divided into three groups to receive ketamine (group K), dexmedetomidine (group D), and saline (control group C).

Etomidate, an intravenous hypnotic used for anaesthesia and critical care, is known for its undesirable side effects, including pain on injection, myoclonus, and adrenocortical depression. Despite its continued clinical use because of its haemodynamic stability and rapid onset and offset of effect, alternatives like propofol, ketamine, and remimazolam offer fewer drawbacks. Recent efforts to improve etomidate through chemical modifications, such as methoxyethyl etomidate hydrochloride (ET-26), have shown limited success, with persistent issues like involuntary muscle movements and adrenocortical suppression.

Background: Delirium is a severe neuropsychiatric disorder associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Numerous precipitating factors and etiologies merge into the pathophysiology of this condition which can be marked by agitation and psychosis. Judicious use of antipsychotic medications such as intravenous haloperidol reduces these symptoms and distress in critically ill individuals.
