Background: The binding of endothelin-1 (ET-1) to endothelin type A receptor (ETAR) performs a critical action in pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cell (PASMC) proliferation leading to pulmonary vascular structural remodeling. More evidence showed that cystathionine γ-lyase (CSE)-catalyzed endogenous hydrogen sulfide (HS) was involved in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases. In this study, we aimed to explore the effect of endogenous HS/CSE pathway on the ET-1/ETAR binding and its underlying mechanisms in the cellular and animal models of PASMC proliferation.

Background & Aims: Previous studies have established that hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) significantly contributes to the development of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Conversely, hydrogen sulfide (HS) has shown potential in mitigating NASH. Despite these findings, it remains uncertain whether HS can serve as a therapeutic agent against HHcy-induced liver damage.

Cystathionine γ-lyase (CTH) is a critical enzyme in the reverse transsulfuration pathway, the major route for the metabolism of sulfur-containing amino acids, notably converting cystathionine to cysteine. We reported that CTH supports gastritis induced by the pathogen Helicobacter pylori. Herein our aim was to investigate the role of CTH in colonic inflammation.

Dysregulated nitric oxide-mediated signaling has been implicated in HFpEF pathophysiology, however, little is known about the role of endogenous hydrogen sulfide (H2S).
Objectives: This study evaluated H2S bioavailability in patients and two animal models of cardiometabolic HFpEF and assessed the impact of H2S on HFpEF severity through alterations in endogenous H2S production and pharmacological supplementation.

Phosphorus (P) has crucial roles in plant growth and development. Hydrogen sulphide (HS) has multiple functions in plants, particularly having the ability to promote tolerance to a variety of adversity stresses. However, it is unclear whether HS has a function when plants suffer Pi-deficiency stress.
