Cornelis et al. reported an isolated DRUJ infection treated with open surgery to prevent spread to the radiocarpal joint. We suggest that arthroscopy, proven effective in other joint infections and technically feasible for the DRUJ without damaging the TFCC,could have been a less invasive and effective alternative.

The interplay between the gut microbiota and gastrointestinal hormones plays a pivotal role in the health of the host and the development of diseases. As a vital component of the intestinal microecosystem, the gut microbiota influences the synthesis and release of many gastrointestinal hormones through mechanisms such as modulating the intestinal environment, producing metabolites, impacting mucosal barriers, generating immune and inflammatory responses, and releasing neurotransmitters. Conversely, gastrointestinal hormones exert feedback regulation on the gut microbiota by modulating the intestinal environment, nutrient absorption and utilization, and the bacterial biological behavior and composition.

Tissue-resident memory CD8 T (T) cells provide protection from infection at barrier sites. In the small intestine, T cells are found in at least two distinct subpopulations: one with higher expression of effector molecules and another with greater memory potential. However, the origins of this diversity remain unknown.

Internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling has been an acceptable step in vitrectomy surgeries for various retinal diseases such as macular hole, chronic macular edema following epiretinal membrane (ERM), and vitreoretinal traction. Despite all the benefits, this procedure has some side effects, which may lead to structural damage and functional vision loss. Light and dye toxicity may induce reversible and irreversible retina damage, which will be observed in postoperative optical coherence tomography scans.

Posterior segment ocular diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and retinal vein occlusion, are leading causes of vision impairment and blindness worldwide. Effective management of these conditions remains a formidable challenge due to the unique anatomical and physiological barriers of the eye, including the blood-retinal barrier and rapid drug clearance mechanisms. To address these hurdles, nanostructured drug delivery systems are proposed to overcome ocular barriers, target the retina, and enhance permeation while ensuring controlled release.
