RNA binding proteins (RBPs) are responsible for facilitating a wealth of post-transcriptional gene regulatory functions. The role of an RBP on regulated transcripts can be investigated through a pull-down of the RBP and high-throughput sequencing (HTS) of the associated transcripts. Photoactivatable Ribonucleoside-Enhanced Crosslinking and Immunoprecipitation (PAR-CLIP), is one such pull-down method that isolates, detects, and sequences the cDNA of RBP-associated transcripts.

The histamine subtype 3 (H) receptor is an important drug target in the central nervous system (CNS), and PET imaging offers a promising technique for the noninvasive evaluation of CNS disease related to the H receptor. In this study, we synthesized and evaluated the binding effects of [F]H3-2404 and [F]H3-2405 by modifying the structure of AZD5213, a selective H antagonist. These two radioligands were prepared in high radiochemical yields and displayed stability in serum.

Background: d-serine, a long-term undetected enantiomer of serine, is a biomarker that reflects kidney function and disease activity. The physiologic functions of d-serine are unclear.
Methods: The dynamics of d-serine were assessed by measuring d-serine in human samples of living kidney donors using two-dimensional high-performance liquid chromatography, and by autoradiographic studies in mice.

Adrenomedullin (ADM), a member of the calcitonin family of peptides, is a potent vasodilator and was shown to have the ability to modulate bone metabolism. We have previously found a unique cell surface antigen (Kat1 antigen) expressed in rat osteoclasts, which is involved in the functional regulation of the calcitonin receptor (CTR). Cross-linking of cell surface Kat1 antigen with anti-Kat1 antigen monoclonal antibody (mAbKat1) stimulated osteoclast formation only under conditions suppressed by calcitonin.

Background: Rats exposed to water avoidance stress (WAS) show increased urinary frequency, increased somatosensory nociceptive reflex responses, as well as altered brain responses to bladder distension, analogous to similar observations made in patients with urologic chronic pelvic pain syndrome (UCPPS). Exercise has been proposed as a potential treatment option for patients with chronic urinary frequency and urgency. We examined the effects of exercise on urinary voiding parameters and functional brain activation during bladder distension in rats exposed to WAS.
