Ketamine with 10% acepromazine (Km/Ac) was evaluated for use in an investigation of plasma chylomicron-triglyceride clearance in rats. Clearance rate and the half-life of radiolabeled (14C) chylomicron triglycerides plus tissue uptake of 14C-fatty acids were equal in Km/Ac anesthetized and non-anesthetized rats. Km/Ac was found to be a suitable anesthesia in rats for the study of plasma chylomicron-triglyceride clearance.

Physiopharmacological properties of the pupillary dilation produced by the humoral factor in the reflex pupillary dilation were studied in cats anesthetized with ketamine-HC1. Pupillary dilation produced by the humoral factor was separated from that produced by the neural mechanism, ie, sympathetic activation and parasympathetic inhibition, by atropinization of acutely sympathectomized pupil. To evoke the pupillary reflex dilation, the sciatic nerve was stimulated by using a bipolar electrode.
