Giant prostatic calculus in patient treated with perineal prostatotomy: case report.

AME Case Rep

November 2024

Department of Urology, São José do Rio Preto Regional Faculty of Medicine Foundation (FUNFARME), São José do Rio Preto, SP, Brazil.

Background: Urolithiasis (kidney stone) is a common condition that often leads patients to urgent or emergency care services. Urinary calculi are generally found in the kidneys, ureters, or bladder. Urethral calculi are uncommon and can result from the migration of a calculus in the upper urinary tract or vesicle or may be primary of the urethra.

Asymmetric electronic distribution induced enhancement in photocatalytic CO-to-CH conversion via boron-doped covalent triazine frameworks.

J Colloid Interface Sci

January 2025

Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, Fuzhou University, Minhou, Fujian 350108, China; State Key Laboratory of Photocatalysis on Energy and Environment, College of Chemistry, Fuzhou University, Minhou, Fujian 350108, China. Electronic address:

Covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) are emerging as promising platform for photocatalysis, yet their highly symmetric structure leads to significant charge recombination. Herein, we employed a facile non-metallic boron (B) modification with precisely controlled doping site to introduce asymmetric local electron distribution in CTFs, achieving a 15-fold activity enhancement for CO-to-CH conversion. Calculations including frontier orbitals, dipole moments and molecular electrostatic potentials firmly demonstrated the formation of localized polarized electron regions in CTF-1 via B doping.

Effectiveness of Antiviral Treatment with Intravenous Peramivir and Oral Oseltamivir for Seasonal Influenza in Children.

Children (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Emergency Medicine, CHA Bundang Medical Center, School of Medicine, CHA University, Seongnam 13496, Republic of Korea.

Background/objectives: Influenza poses significant risks in children, causing complications like febrile seizures and hospitalizations. Antiviral treatments include oseltamivir and peramivir, both FDA-approved neuraminidase inhibitors. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of intravenous peramivir and oral oseltamivir in pediatric patients presenting to an emergency department, with a primary focus on the revisit rate within 72 h post-treatment.

Background: Omphalitis is a bacterial infection of the umbilicus and/or surrounding tissues, occurring primarily in the neonatal period. Whereas it is known to be a major route of localized and often systemic infection, studies describing incidence and risk factors remain scanty, especially in resource limited settings where the condition is thought to be common. We assessed the incidence and risk factors for omphalitis among neonates born to women who received a birth kit containing chlorhexidine for umbilical cord care after birth in Eastern Uganda.

Purpose: Dexamethasone has shown promising efficacy in alleviating pain and enhancing outcomes undergoing TKA. However, an optimal route of administration, dosage, and treatment duration have not yet been established. This study is to assess the effects of intravenous dexamethasone administration on postoperative pain management and prognosis in patients undergoing TKA.
