Objective: The present study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of 3D facial soft tissue virtual models produced by two photogrammetry softwares (AgiSoft Photoscan and 3DF Zephyr Free), when compared to those created by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Methods: Ten patients were submitted to two sequences of photographs performed with a DSLR camera (with and without the aid of a ring flash) and CBCT scans. Each photo series for each patient was processed with the softwares, and at the end, five models of each patient were generated: 1) CBCT, 2) AAL (Agisoft Ambient Light), 3) AFL (Agisoft Flash Light), 4) ZAL (Zephyr Ambient Light), and 5) ZFL (Zephyr Flash Light).

Objectives: This article assesses best practices for producing 3D digital cranial models through structure-from-motion (SfM) photogrammetry, and whether the metric accuracy and overall presentation of photogrammetric models are comparable to physical crania. It is intended to present a user-friendly standard method of creating accurate digital skeletal models using Agisoft PhotoScan.

Materials And Methods: Approximately 200 photographs were taken of three different crania, and were separated into series consisting of 50, 75, 100, 150, and approximately 200 photos.

Background: The tuberculin skin test is the most widely used method for detecting latent tuberculosis infection in adults and active tuberculosis in children. We present the development of a mobile-phone based screening tool for measuring the tuberculin skin test induration.

Method: The tool makes use of a mobile application developed on the Android platform to capture images of an induration, and photogrammetric reconstruction using Agisoft PhotoScan to reconstruct the induration in 3D, followed by 3D measurement of the induration with the aid of functions from the Python programming language.

Surgical correction of lambdoid synostosis - New technique and first results.

J Craniomaxillofac Surg

October 2016

University Hospital Giessen, Dept. for Neurosurgery (Head: Prof. Dr. E. Uhl), Klinikstr. 33, 35385 Giessen, Germany.

Objective: Premature craniosynostosis of the lambdoid suture is rare. The use of differential diagnosis to rule out positional occipital plagiocephaly is crucial. Nevertheless, once diagnosed, lambdoid craniosynostosis requires corrective surgery to prevent intracranial harm and aesthetic stigma by significant dyscrania.

Unlabelled: The diagnosis of Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP) currently relies upon cytological demonstration of the organism in sputum or bronchoscopy specimens. The purpose of this study was to develop a radiolabeled monoclonal antibody (Mab) against Pneumocystis carinii (P. carinii) and to evaluate its use for imaging PCP.
