Marine microalgae are emerging as promising sources of polyphenols, renowned for their health-promoting benefits. Recovering polyphenols from microalgae requires suitable treatment and extraction techniques to ensure their release from the biomass and analytical methodologies to assess their efficiency. This review provides a comprehensive comparison of traditional and cutting-edge extraction and analytical procedures applied for polyphenolic characterization in marine microalgae over the past 26 years, with a unique perspective on optimizing their recovery and identification.

Nateglinide is an oral meglitinide that treats diabetes. Nateglinide was determined in several commercial formulations using chromatographic and spectrophotometric methods in published research. Quality-by-design approach was applied to develop the in-house nateglinide-loaded Solid Dispersion Adsorbate (SDA) for improving bioavailability and solubility.

In recent years, increased attention has been paid to the recovery of bioactive compounds from waste and by-products resulting from the agro-industrial sector and their valorization into new products, which can be used in the health, food, or agricultural industry, as innovative and sustainable approaches to waste management. In this work, two of these by-products resulting from the fruit-processing industry were used for the recovery of bioactive compounds (polyphenols), namely lingonberry pomace () and grape pomace (). Two green extraction techniques were employed to obtain hydroalcoholic extracts (solvent: 50% EtOH, 10% mass): ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) and accelerated solvent extraction (ASE).

Two accurate, precise and robust multivariate chemometric methods were developed for the simultaneous determination of montelukast sodium (MON), rupatadine fumarate (RUP) and desloratadine (DES). These methods provide a cost-effective alternative to chromatographic techniques by utilizing spectrophotometry in pharmaceutical quality control. The proposed approaches, partial least squares-1 (PLS-1) and artificial neural network (ANN), were optimized using genetic algorithm (GA) to select the most influential wavelengths, enhancing model performance.
