The FDA "Food and Drug Administration" recently approved a novel co-crystal formulation of Celecoxib (CEX) and Tramadol (TRM) for the treatment of adults suffering from moderate to severe pain in several conditions. This novel combination has advantages over co-administration of the two drugs individually as better patient compliance, synergism and lower therapeutic cost. This work presents the first "High performance Thin Layer Chromatographic" (HPTLC) quantitative analytical technique for CEX and TRM simultaneous assay in bulk, their new dosage form and plasma.

A vinca alkaloid; vinburnine (VNB) is utilized as an effective vasodilator. As a cyclic amide-containing drug, it is likely susceptible to hydrolytic degradation. This study examined the degradation profile of VNB, findings indicated that VNB undergoes degradation solely in the presence of alkali, generating a carboxylic acid derivative (DEG).

A semi-automatic pipeline integrating histological and µCT data in a mouse model of lung fibrosis.

J Transl Med

November 2024

Molecular Imaging Facility, Experimental Pharmacology & Translational Science Department, Chiesi Farmaceutici S.P.A, 43122, Parma, Italy.

Background: Drug discovery strongly relies on the thorough evaluation of preclinical experimental studies. In the context of pulmonary fibrosis, micro-computed tomography (µCT) and histology are well-established and complementary tools for assessing, in animal models, disease progression and response to treatment. µCT offers dynamic, real-time insights into disease evolution and the effects of therapies, while histology provides a detailed microscopic examination of lung tissue.

Two simple, valid and green chromatographic based techniques are developed in the present work for first time to simultaneously analyze the recently approved combination of Aspirin (ASP) with the novel gastro-protective agent Vonoprazan (VON). First method is an HPLC-DAD "diode array detection", where separation was successful using C18 (250 × 4.6 mm) column with isocratic elution of phosphate buffer-pH 6.
