Poly-3-hydroxybutyrate (P3HB) is a biodegradable polyester produced mainly by bacterial fermentation in an isotactic configuration. Its high crystallinity (about 70%) and brittle behavior have limited the process window and the application of this polymer in different sectors. Atactic poly-3-hydroxybutyrate (a-P3HB) is an amorphous polymer that can be synthesized chemically and blended with the isotactic P3HB to reduce its crystallinity and improve its processability Ring-opening polymerization (ROP) is the most cited synthesis route for this polymer in the literature.

Scientific understanding of the molecular structure and adsorption of polymers at oil-water liquid interfaces is very limited. In this study the adsorption free energy at the oil (CCl)-water interface was estimated using umbrella sampling molecular dynamics simulations for six carboxylate type vinyl polymers differing in hydrophobic nature and tacticity: and poly(acrylic acid) (-PAA, -PAA), and poly(methacrylic acid) (-PMA, -PMA), and and poly(ethylacrylic acid) (-PEA, -PEA). Δ values are in the order -PMA < -PEA < -PEA < -PAA < -PAA < -PMA.

First, it attempts to present the excellent efficiency of a maleated interfacial agent (obtained by the authors by using atactic polypropylene industrial waste) when used as interfacial additive in polypropylene/short carbon fiber composites (iPP/SCF). Second, in this paper, we pay attention to the role played by processing in the final properties of the composite.

Commodity PS is synthesized via free radical polymerization, whereas PS in block copolymers (BCPs) is typically synthesized via living anionic polymerization. The purpose of this work is to investigate how the synthesis method impacts important properties such as water sorption and glass transition temperature (). Water sorption is important because the performance of nanostructured polymer membranes in various applications is known to be affected by environmental conditions such as humidity.
