The light-harvesting pigment-protein complex II (LHCII) from plants can be used as a component for biohybrid photovoltaic devices, acting as a photosensitizer to increase the photocurrent generated when devices are illuminated with sunlight. LHCII is effective at photon absorption in the red and blue regions of the visible spectrum, however, it has low absorption in the green region (550-650 nm). Previous studies have shown that synthetic chromophores can be used to fill this spectral gap and transfer additional energy to LHCII, but it was uncertain whether this would translate into an improved performance for photovoltaics.

A method for simultaneous determination of Theanine and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), as the novel food of amino acids, which was established using pre-column derivatization and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). 4-Dimethylaminoazobe nzene-4'-sulfonyl chloride (DABS-Cl) is employed as the derivatization reagent with chromophore linked to Theanine and GABA, which lacks chromophore for DAD analysis in its pristine structure. After the detection wavelength was confirmed, the chromatographic and derivatization conditions were also optimized, including the chromatographic column, mobile phases and their gradient, derivatization temperature and time, the additive amount of buffer solution and derivatization reagent.

The synergistic effect of natural guar gum (GG), konjac gum (KGM) and sodium 2-oxopropanoic acid sodium (2-OAS) to designed a novel physical cross-linked three-dimensional network structure GG@2-OAS@KGM as a carrier of active microorganisms for mold and yeast sensitive detection. At the ratio of 6:2:2 (w/w/w), GG@2-OAS@KGM possessed a uniform porous structure. After treatment for 120 h, the hydrogel exhibits higher water holding capacity (WHC, 71.

We present a six-step cascade that converts 1,3-distyrylbenzenes (-stilbenes) into nonsymmetric pyrenes in 40-60% yields. This sequence merges photochemical steps, ,-alkene isomerization, a 6π photochemical electrocyclization (Mallory photocyclization); the new bay region cyclization, with two radical iodine-mediated aromatization steps; and an optional aryl migration. This work illustrates how the inherent challenges of engineering excited state reactivity can be addressed by logical design.

Continuous fluorescence-based quantitative antioxidant assay using vegetable oil as an oxidizable substrate.

Several spectrophotometric assays, such as 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC), are commonly used to assess antioxidant activity. However, these methods often lack real-world relevance as they do not inhibit autoxidation in actual food substrates. Although direct measurement of oxygen consumption or peroxide formation during inhibited autoxidation offers certain advantages, it is labor intensive and requires specialized equipment.
