We report the management of a convexity dural arteriovenous fistula (dAVF) in an uncommon anterior superior sagittal sinus (SSS) location. This was a high-risk Cognard IIa+b dAVF, which is notoriously complex to treat. Endoscopic management alone for complex SSS dAVFs is challenging due to the often bilateral arterial supply to the fistula, as demonstrated in this case.

Cerebral proliferative angiopathy (CPA) is a rare subtype of cerebral arteriovenous malformation, characterized by unique angiographic features and clinical presentations. Although the clinical and angiographic characteristics of CPA have been well described, their impact on the surrounding tissues remains underexplored. Herein, we investigated the presence of calvarial thickening in patients with CPA, and discuss its potential pathogenesis.

To evaluate the incidence of mortality, hemorrhage, and neurological deficits in treating intracranial arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) in patients over 18 through a comparative analysis of surgical approaches and other therapeutic modalities. A systematic review was conducted using MEDLINE, Embase, CENTRAL, and LILACS databases in November 2023. Inclusion criteria included clinical trials, cohorts studies, case-controls studies, and case series comparing patients over 18 undergoing surgery or microsurgery versus other treatments (radiosurgery, isolated embolization, and conservative treatment).

Objective: Dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs) with deep venous drainage (DVD) (DAVFs-DVD) are characteristically associated with non-hemorrhagic neurological deficits, most notably cognitive impairment. Large studies have yet to thoroughly characterize these DAVFs. We conducted an analysis of the largest cohort of DAVFs-DVD to provide a comprehensive characterization of this specific subset.

The holistic and local perspectives in teaching spinal arteriovenous malformations.

Neuroradiol J

January 2025

Department of Neurosurgery, Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, School of Clinical Medicine, Tsinghua University, China.

Background: The spinal arteriovenous malformations (sAVMs) have been challenging entities to diagnose and treat. The small structure, important function, and complex vascular anatomy of the spinal cord increase the difficulty of treating sAVMs.

Objective: The combining holistic and local perspectives in the diagnosis and treatment of sAVMs were provided to teach spinal vascular anatomy and AVMs.
