Habitual consumption of low-calorie sweeteners (LCS) during juvenile-adolescence can lead to greater sugar intake later in life. Here, we investigated if exposure to the LCS Acesulfame Potassium (Ace-K) during this critical period of development reprograms the taste system in a way that would alter hedonic responding for common dietary compounds. Results revealed that early-life LCS intake not only enhanced the avidity for a caloric sugar (fructose) when rats were in a state of caloric need, it increased acceptance of a bitterant (quinine) in Ace-K-exposed rats tested when middle-aged.

Introduction: Folate receptors (FR) have been considered a convenient target for different radiopharmaceuticals in recent years. Multifarious Ga-labeled folate conjugates have been proposed as promising agents for the PET imaging of FR-overexpressing malignant neoplasms. In addition, radiolabeled folate-based conjugates can be effective for imaging non-tumor pathological foci characterized by a pronounced cluster of activated macrophages.

As in other animals, insects can modulate their odor-guided behaviors, especially sexual behavior, according to environmental and physiological factors such as the individual's nutritional state. This behavioral flexibility results from modifications of the olfactory pathways under the control of hormones. Most studies have focused on the central modulation of the olfactory system and less attention has been paid to the peripheral olfactory system.

Seaweed residue hydrolysate (SRH), produced by the acid hydrolysis of seaweed processing residues, is rich in bioactive compounds. The development and utilization of SRH as an aquatic immune enhancer not only achieves high-value utilization of waste but also promotes green and healthy aquaculture. In this study, northern snakehead (Channa argus) juveniles fed a compound feed supplemented with SRH (treatment group) exhibited a significant enhancement in intestinal microbial diversity and the proliferation of beneficial bacteria after eight weeks.

The compound m-Cresol, also referred to as 3-methylphenol,acts as a precursor in the creation of pesticides and plasticizers. This research has conducted a thorough evaluation of the toxic effects of m-cresol on the cardiac development of juvenile zebrafish, from 6 to 72 hpf. The study's results reveal that higher concentrations of m-Cresol, compared to lower ones, result in more severe heart abnormalities in zebrafish larvae.
