Surgical material from 51 patients operated on for insulinoma is studied. Three histological variants of insulinoma are distinguished: adenoma-like, insular-ductal and carcinoid-like. The structure of Langerhans islands outside the tumour is described and the diagnostic criteria of insuloma-microadenoma are presented.

The factors of an unfavourable prognosis are as follows: young age, dysproteinemia, low blood coagulability, high leucocytosis and reaction of erythrocyte sedimentation, endocrine diseases, eosinophilic infiltration of stroma with high content of collagen type V and fibronectin, high expression of pepsinogen C, gastrin and carcino-embryonic antigen in the tumour parenchyma.

On the basis of the findings, the structure of male sterility in aspermia was exactly identified and the differential diagnostic value of certain values was established; a correlation between the blood follitropine content and the degree of spermatogenesis inhibition in testicular aspermia was revealed in particular. Testosterone excreted in the urine and circulating in blood plasma is reduced by more than three times in this case, while the plasma estradiol level increases 1.

Single-factor statistical analysis showed tumor thickness, extent of invasion or local spreading, clinico-morphologic pattern, lymphoid-plasmocytic infiltration, mitotic activity and cell composition to be the most reliable in predicting survival and dissemination in clinical stage I malignant melanoma of the skin. These parameters should be evaluated at microscopic evaluation of the tumor.
