Remarkable improvement in drilling fluid properties with graphitic-carbon nitride for enhanced wellbore stability.

Heliyon

January 2025

Department of Chemical Engineering, School of Chemical and Materials Engineering (SCME), National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), Sector H-12, Islamabad, 44000, Pakistan.

This study examines the viability of using graphitic-Carbon Nitride (g-CN) nanomaterial as shale stabilizer drilling fluid additive having applications in the oil and gas wells drilling. Shale stability is important especially when drilling horizontal and extended reach wells with water-based muds (WBM) to tap unconventional reservoirs namely shale oil and shale gas. For this study, the g-CN nanomaterial was produced by melamine pyrolysis, and characterized by X-Ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy techniques.

To concentrate omega-3 fatty acids (-3) in fish oil (FO), olein and super olein fraction (OF) of FO were produced by winterization. For this purpose, FO was slowly cooled to -50°C (24 h), the mixture of crystallized and non-crystallized phases was separated, filtrate was coded as OF (yield 32%), 35% of OF was kept for storage study and analytical purpose, remaining 65% was further slowly cooled down to -75°C (24 h) and filtered, filtrate was coded as super olein (SF, yield 23%). GC-MS analysis showed that unsaturated fatty acids increased due to successive winterization.

Innovative applications of MXenes in dialysis: enhancing filtration efficiency.

Nanoscale

January 2025

Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Istinye University, Istanbul 34396, Türkiye.

MXenes, a family of two-dimensional transition metal carbides and nitrides, exhibit exceptional properties such as high electrical conductivity, large surface area, and chemical versatility, making them ideal candidates for various dialysis applications. One prominent application of MXenes lies in the efficient removal of toxic metals and harmful dyes from wastewater. Their unique structure allows for rapid adsorption and selective separation, significantly improving purification processes.

Functionalization of Graphene by Interfacial Engineering in Thermally Conductive Nanofibrillated Cellulose Films.

Langmuir

January 2025

Research Center of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, College of Science, Shanghai University, Shanghai 200444, P. R. China.

Flexible nanocomposites incorporating nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) hold significant promise for thermal management applications. However, their heat dissipation performance is primarily constrained by the interfacial thermal resistance (). In this work, 1-pyrenemethylamine hydrochloride (PyNH) noncovalent functionalized graphene subsequently self-assembled with NFC through a vacuum-assisted filtration technique.

In this study, we present the design, synthesis, and utilization of a covalent triazine framework (CTF) formed by the condensation of , , -tris(4-(aminomethyl)benzyl)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triamine and 2,4,6-tris(4-formylphenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine on which silica is immobilized (TPT-TAT/silica) as an innovative catalyst for porphyrins synthesis. Under solvothermal conditions, the condensation of triamine and trialdehyde precursors led to the formation of a covalent triazine framework (CTF) with a high nitrogen content. The resulting CTF is characterized by its extensive porosity and elevated nitrogen levels, which are critical for the creation of catalytic active sites.
