The main virulence feature of this bacterium is the attaching and effacing (AE) lesion formation on infected intestinal epithelial cells, which is characterized by the formation of pedestal-like structures that are rich in F-actin. The Brazilian 1551-2 strain can recruit F-actin using both the Nck-dependent and the Nck-independent pathways, the latter of which uses an adaptor protein named Tir-cytoskeleton coupling protein (TccP/EspF).

Background And Purpose: In lung stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) using a breath-holding technique, displacement of tumor during breath-holding is rarely considered. Intensive care unit-acquired weakness (ICU-AW) is recognized as newly-acquired bilateral muscle weakness, which is a complication of critical illness in the ICU; however, there are no reports on the pathogenesis and early predictors of ICU-AW specifically associated with cardiogenic shock (CS). Introduction: People migrating to the Canary Islands by sea frequently suffer from potentially severe skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs) for which optimal empirical antibiotic therapy is not well defined.
Methods: This descriptive retrospective observational study assess a case series of newly arrived maritime migrants to the Canary Islands who were diagnosed with clinical and microbiological SSTIs and admitted to the Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria Hospital in Tenerife between January 2020 and December 2023. Clinical data, bacterial species, resistance profiles, and choice of empirical treatments were analysed.
