Inhibitory effects of cadmium and hydrophilic cadmium telluride quantum dots on the white rot fungus .

Heliyon

January 2025

Department of Microbiology (Biocenter 1, Viikinkaari 9), Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Helsinki, Finland.

The white rot fungus was investigated for its ability to decolorize the reactive textile dye Reactive Black 5 (RB5) that was co-exposed to CdCl and quantum dots (QDs) consisting of a CdTe core capped with two different hydrophilic organic ligands (NAC and MPA). Without co-exposure, completely decolorizes RB5 within 9 days. The highest inhibitory effect was found for soluble CdCl with an EC of 583 μg l, followed by MPA-QDs (10,628 μg l) and NAC-QDs (17,575 μg l).

Genome-wide identification and functional roles relating to anthocyanin biosynthesis analysis in maize.

BMC Plant Biol

January 2025

Research Institute of Biology and Agriculture, School of Chemistry and Biological Engineering, Shunde Innovation School, Zhongzhi International Institute of Agricultural Biosciences, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing, 100083, China.

Background: Anthocyanin is an important class of water-soluble pigments that are widely distributed in various tissues of plants, and it not only facilitates diverse color changes but also plays important roles in various biological processes. Maize silk, serving as an important reproductive organ and displaying a diverse range of colors, plays an indispensable role in biotic resistance through its possession of anthocyanin. However, the copy numbers, characteristics, and expression patterns of genes involved in maize anthocyanin biosynthesis are not fully understood.

January 2025

Department of Plantation Products, Spices & Flavour Technology, CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore 570020, India; Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), Ghaziabad 201002, India. Electronic address:

The synthesis of bioconjugates of curcumin, zingerone, and [6]-shogaol with low molecular weight chitosan (LMWC) is presented. The unconjugated forms of these compounds exhibit low water solubility, poor stability, limited bioavailability, and low target specificity, whereas the synthetic conjugates demonstrate improved physical properties. The synthesis was achieved by forming succinates & then reacting with LMWC.
