Somatic clonal expansion refers to the proliferation and expansion of a cell clone within a multicellular organism. Since cancer also results from the uncontrolled proliferation of few cell clones, it is generally believed that aging-associated somatic clonal expansion observed in normal tissues represents a precancerous condition. For instance, hematological malignancy is often preceded by clonal hematopoiesis.

Background: Activities in daily living (ADLs) disability triggered by aging population and chronic diseases in the middle-aged and older adults has become a major public health challenge. Cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome, as a combination of several chronic conditions, has not yet been studied to explore its association with ADLs disability. We examined the association between CKM syndrome and ADLs disability among middle-aged and older adults in China and whether it varied by age and socioeconomic status.

Background: Texture analysis has the potential to deliver quantitative imaging markers. Patients receiving computed tomography (CT)-guided percutaneous bone biopsies could be characterized using texture analysis derived from CT. Especially for breast cancer (BC) patients, it could be crucial to better predict the outcome of the biopsy to better reflect the immunohistochemistry status of the tumor.

Vertical maxillary excess presents a complex challenge in orthodontic treatment, necessitating effective anchorage systems for optimal correction. This research is useful to assess the skeletal anchorage system's (SAS) effectiveness in correcting the vertical maxillary excess among adult patients presenting with gummy smiles. This study includes case reports with English full text and examines the global general adult (18+) human population with vertical maxillary excess (VME).

Background: To analyze the effects of the positioning of a bolt in the femoral neck system (FNS) on the short-term outcomes of middle-aged and young adults with displaced femoral neck fractures (FNFs).
Methods: This was a retrospective study involving 114 middle-aged and young adults with displaced FNFs who were surgically treated with internal fixation via the FNS in the Department of Orthopedics, Suzhou Municipal Hospital, from December 2019 to January 2023. The degree of deviation of the central axis of the femoral head and neck from the tip of the bolt (W), the tip‒apex distance (TAD) and the length of femoral neck shortening (LFNS) were measured on postoperative X-ray and computed tomography (CT) scan images.
