Introduction: Magnesium sulphate (MgSO4) is administered to pregnant women at risk of preterm labour and eclampsia. Since prolonged exposure to antenatal MgSO4 is considered to be a risk factor for infant skeletal demineralization, we evaluated infants exposed to antenatal MgSO4 for bone and mineral metabolism using their umbilical cord blood.
Materials And Methods: The study population comprised 137 preterm infants.

Objectives: To compare the change in serum vitamin D levels and to compare the changes in serum levels of calcium, phosphate, alkaline phosphatase and parathyroid hormone in vitamin D supplemented and unsupplemented groups after 3 mo.
Methods: In this randomized, parallel group, nonblinded, controlled trial, 40 children, 2-12 y of age with newly diagnosed epilepsy, and vitamin D sufficient status, and started on valproate monotherapy, were randomized into the intervention group (n = 20), which was given daily oral 600 IU vitamin D supplementation, and the control group (n = 20), which was not given any supplementation. Changes in the biochemical parameters was measured in the two groups after 3 mo.

Justification: The emerging literature on prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in India, prevention and treatment strategies of rickets, and extra-skeletal benefits of vitamin D suggest the need for revising the existing guidelines for prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency in India.
Objectives: To review the emerging literature on vitamin D prevalence and need for universal vitamin D supplementation. To suggest optimum vitamin D therapy for treatment of asymptomatic and symptomatic vitamin D deficiency, and rickets.

Introduction: Osteomalacia and osteoporosis are two metabolic bone disorders that increase the risk of fracture due to several causes. In terms of drugs, apart from corticosteroids, which are known to induce bone disorders, several other drugs used in chronic disease management have also been linked with an increased risk of osteoporosis and osteomalacia.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to describe spontaneous reports of drug-induced osteoporosis and osteomalacia in the French (FPVDB) and Spanish (SPVDB) pharmacovigilance databases.
