The observations conducted by Bielschowski-Gross method and intravital staining with methylene blue after A.S. Dogiel have shown that the receptors with an annular nervous apparatus are located in the muscular sheath, nerve bundles and ganglia of the intermusclar plexus of the oesophagus, stomach and small intertine of birds. For the first time it was shown taht the receptors with the annular nervous apparatus were not of the central origin but might be formed by dendrites of the vegetative neurons of digestive tract.

Objective: Impaired right ventricular (RV)-pulmonary arterial (PA) coupling, calculated by measuring the tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) to pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP), can be used as an early indicator of right ventricular dysfunction (RVD) in patients with heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Patients suffering from HFrEF experience improvements in left ventricular (LV) function through the administration of sacubitril/valsartan therapy. In addition, the albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) score was associated with the fluid overload status and adverse clinical outcomes in patients with heart failure.

Background: This study aims to characterize right ventricular dysfunction (RVD) in heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction and understand the cumulative prognostic value of abnormal RV echocardiographic parameters in HF with preserved ejection fraction.

Methods And Results: Data from 809 patients in the PARAGON-HF (Prospective Comparison of Angiotensin Receptor-Neprilysin Inhibitor With Angiotensin-Receptor Blocker Global Outcomes in HF With Preserved Ejection Fraction) echocardiographic substudy (55% women, mean age 74±8 years) were analyzed. Correlates of RVD (defined as tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion <1.

Objective: Vascular endothelial growth factor is a signaling protein created by cells performing important bodily functions. Vascular endothelial growth factor is abundant in the lung, and plasma levels are elevated in patients with severe pulmonary arterial hypertension. An association between soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor, an inflammatory biomarker, and soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor levels and interstitial pulmonary and vascular involvement (e.

In patients with heart failure (HF) with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (HFrEF), low tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) on echocardiography is associated with poor prognosis. The significance of TAPSE changes post-HF treatment among HFrEF patients remains unclear. We evaluated the factors associated with persistently low TAPSE and its prognostic impact in Japanese hospitalized patients with HFrEF.

Functional amyloids (protein nanofibrils, PNF) synthesized from plant sources exhibit unique physicochemical and nanomechanical properties that could improve food texture. While environmental factors affecting PNFs are well-known, scientific evidence on how cells (focus on the oral cavity) respond to them under physiological conditions is lacking. Self-assembled PNFs synthesized from fava bean whole protein isolate show a strong pH- and solvent-dependent morphology and elasticity modification measured by atomic force microscopy (AFM).
