Antibacterial and Anti-Inflammation Activity of Titanium Alloy by Efficient Copper Immobilization.

Langmuir

January 2025

Department of Biomaterials, Faculty of Dental Science, Kyushu University, 3-1-1 Maidashi, Higashi-ku, Fukuoka 812-8582, Japan.

Titanium alloy plates are often used for fixation to bone. However, the plates often need to be removed due to infection and adverse inflammation. To avoid these problems, we immobilized copper, which has antibacterial effects and low cytotoxicity, on titanium plates by immersing the titanium in copper-tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane complex solutions.

A generalizable normative deep autoencoder for brain morphological anomaly detection: application to the multi-site StratiBip dataset on bipolar disorder in an external validation framework.

The heterogeneity of psychiatric disorders makes researching disorder-specific neurobiological markers an ill-posed problem. Here, we face the need for disease stratification models by presenting a generalizable multivariate normative modelling framework for characterizing brain morphology, applied to bipolar disorder (BD). We used deep autoencoders in an anomaly detection framework, combined for the first time with a confounder removal step that integrates training and external validation.

Aim: The aim of the current study was to explore nano-formulation for effective neuroprotection by auranofin.

Background: Currently, the treatment options for various CNS disorders, particularly neurodegenerative disorders, are greatly constrained. A significant obstacle in this pursuit is the blood-brain barrier, a shielding covering that hinders the route of numerous biochemical treatments into the brain.

In this study, quinoa, which is a good alternative for celiacs, was tried to be used instead of flour by sprouting it and drying it in the airfryer. Flour obtained from quinoa seeds prevents spreading and hardens the product. It was predicted that this problem could be overcome by germination and drying in the airfryer.

Machine vision model for drip leakage detection of pipeline.

PLoS One

January 2025

School of Power and Mechanical Engineering, Wuhan University, Wuhan, China.

The prevailing trend in industrial equipment development is integration, with pipelines as the lifeline connecting system components. Given the often harsh conditions of these industrial equipment pipelines, leakage is a common occurrence that can disrupt normal operations and, in severe cases, lead to safety accidents. Early detection of even minor drips at the onset of leakage can enable timely maintenance measures, preventing more significant leaks and halting the escalation of pipeline failures.
