Background: Cervical screening, aimed at detecting precancerous lesions and preventing cancer, is based on cytology and HPV testing. Both methods have limitations, the main ones being the variable diagnostic sensitivity of cytology and the moderate specificity of HPV testing. Various molecular biomarkers are proposed in recent years to improve cervical cancer management, including a number of mRNAs encoded by human genes involved in carcinogenesis.

Background: Human responses and acclimation to the environmental stresses of high altitude and low oxygen are multifaceted and regulated by multiple genes. However, the mechanism of how the body adjusts in a low-oxygen environment is not yet clear.
Results: Hence, we performed RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) and ATAC sequencing (ATAC-seq) to observe the changes of transcriptome and chromatin accessibility in the peripheral blood of eight individuals at 1 h post adaptation in a simulated plateau environment with 3500 m and 4500 m altitude, respectively.

Rice (Oryza sativa) is a staple food crop globally, with origins in wild progenitors within the AA genome group of Oryza species. Oryza rufipogon and Oryza meridionalis are native to tropical Asia and Northern Australia and offer unique genetic reservoirs. Here we explored the relationships of the genomes of these wild rice species with the domesticated rice genome.

Over the course of evolution, hymenopteran parasitoids have developed a close relationship with heritable viruses, sometimes integrating viral genes into their chromosomes. For example, in parasitoids belonging to the genus, 13 viral genes from the family have been domesticated to deliver immunosuppressive factors to host immune cells, thereby protecting parasitoid offspring from the host immune response. The present study aims to comprehensively characterize this domestication event in terms of the viral genes involved, the wasp diversity affected by this event and its chronology.

The spread of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in rural wastewater threatens both ecological environment and human health. Earthworm ecological filters (EEFs) represent a green technology for rural sewage treatment. However, their effectiveness in removing ARGs remains a significant challenge.
