In this work, a soybean protein isolate (SPI)/polysaccharide microgel particle reconstructed emulsion gels (MPEG) were fabricated through heat-induced gel (HG)-microgel particle-transglutaminase (TG) induced gel process in the presence of four polysaccharides (κ-carrageenan, κC; konjac glucomannan, KGM; high-acyl gellan, HA and xanthan gum, XG). HG exhibited a higher springiness than that of pig back fat (PBF) regardless of polysaccharide type and concentration. After forming MPEG, the springiness was significantly lowered at ≥0.

Oral ulcers, the most common type of mucosal lesion, are both highly prevalent and prone to recurrence. In the persistently moist environment of the oral cavity, current therapeutic patches face challenges such as short adhesion time, disruption by food particles and bacteria, and oral movements. To address these challenges, we develop a Janus patch, named ANSB, inspired by the multi-layered and asymmetric structure of natural mucosa, featuring a long-lasting adhesive layer and a lubricating layer.

Complex microvascular techniques and in-depth knowledge of blood rheology and microanastomosis function are required for success in microvascular flap surgery. Substantial progress has been achieved in preventing complications, but the rate of flap loss is still significant and can have significant adverse effects on the patient. Flap thrombosis, flap hematoma, and flap loss are the most frequent and severe major surgical complications.

Lymph node metastasis (LNM) is a typical marker in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) indicating poor prognosis. Pathological examination by artificial image acquisition and analysis, as the main diagnostic method for LNM, often takes a week or longer which may cause great anxiety of the patient and also retard timely treatment. However, there are few efficient fast LNM diagnosis methods in clinical applications currently.

The gut is a vital organ that is central to the absorption and metabolic processing of orally administered drugs. While there have been many models developed with the goal of studying the absorption of drugs in the gut, these models fail to adequately recapitulate the diverse, complex gastrointestinal microenvironment. The recent emergence of microfluidic organ-on-a-chip technologies has provided a novel means of modeling the gut, yielding radical new insights into the structure of the gut and the mechanisms through which it shapes disease, with key implications for biomedical developmental efforts.
