This investigation represents a pioneering effort to examine the therapeutic effects of PCB specifically in the context of CFA-induced mice, as well as to elucidate the underlying mechanisms that facilitate such effects. Our study utilized advanced methodologies, namely high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS)-based metabolomics, alongside comprehensive multivariate data analysis, to identify a distinctive metabolic profile associated with acute inflammation. Through our analyses, we discovered that several potential metabolites were significantly implicated in a variety of critical metabolic pathways.

Metabolomic in severe traumatic brain injury: exploring primary, secondary injuries, diagnosis, and severity.

Crit Care

Department of Critical Care Medicine, Cumming School of Medicine, Health Research Innovation Center (HRIC), University of Calgary, Room 4C64, 3280 Hospital Drive N.W., Calgary, AB, T2N 4Z6, Canada.

Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major public health concern worldwide, contributing to high rates of injury-related death and disability. Severe traumatic brain injury (sTBI), although it accounts for only 10% of all TBI cases, results in a mortality rate of 30-40% and a significant burden of disability in those that survive. This study explored the potential of metabolomics in the diagnosis of sTBI and explored the potential of metabolomics to examine probable primary and secondary brain injury in sTBI.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of early weaning (EW) on the growth performance, gastrointestinal development, serum parameters, and metabolomics of Hu sheep lambs. Twenty-four male Hu lambs were initially ewe-reared. A total of 12 lambs were weaned at 30 d of age (D30) as the EW group, and the remaining 12 lambs were weaned at 45 d of age (D45) as the control (CON) group.

Olanzapine (OLZ) is widely used in the treatment of schizophrenia, and its metabolic side effects have garnered significant attention in recent years. Despite this, the specific side effects of OLZ and the underlying mechanisms remain inadequately understood. To address this gap, zebrafish (Danio rerio) were exposed to OLZ at concentrations of 35.

Glutamine synthetase (GS) plays a crucial role in the homeostasis of the glutamate-glutamine cycle in the brain. Hypoactive GS causes depressive behaviors. Under chronic stress, GS has no change in expression, but its activity is decreased due to nitration of tyrosine (Tyr).
