Vascular HIF2 Signaling Prevents Cardiomegaly, Alveolar Congestion, and Capillary Remodeling During Chronic Hypoxia.

Arterioscler Thromb Vasc Biol

January 2025

Metabolic and Immune Diseases Department, Biomedical Research Institute Sols-Morreale (IIBM), National Research Council (CSIC), Autonoma University of Madrid, Spain (T.A.-G., S.M.-T., R.C.-M., S.U.-B., S.M.-P.).

Background: Hypoxia is associated with the onset of cardiovascular diseases including cardiac hypertrophy and pulmonary hypertension. HIF2 (hypoxia-inducible factor 2) signaling in the endothelium mediates pulmonary arterial remodeling and subsequent elevation of the right ventricular systolic pressure during chronic hypoxia. Thus, novel therapeutic opportunities for pulmonary hypertension based on specific HIF2 inhibitors have been proposed.

To evaluate the clinical efficacy of percutaneous balloon pulmonary valvuloplasty (PBPV) via antegrade venous-arterial loop in neonates with critical pulmonary stenosis with intact ventricular septum (CPS-IVS). A retrospective case review was conducted. Fifteen neonates with CPS-IVS who underwent PBPV via antegrade venous-arterial loop at the Women and Children's Hospital, Qingdao University between September 2020 and September 2023 were included.

To research the value of Autostrain right ventricular (RV) technology in detecting and preventing right ventricular myocardial injury in patients undergoing breast cancer chemotherapy by providing an imaging basis for early identification. To examine the changes in various cardiac function parameters before and after chemotherapy, two-dimensional echocardiography was employed 48 h before chemotherapy, 48 h after the fourth cycle of chemotherapy, and 48 h after the eighth cycle of chemotherapy, respectively. The patients included those with breast cancer who underwent surgery and were primarily administered anthracycline-based chemotherapeutic drugs.

Sacubitril/valsartan on right ventricular-pulmonary artery coupling and albumin-bilirubin score in heart failure in Chinese patients with reduced ejection fraction.

J Cardiothorac Surg

January 2025

Department of Cardiology, Zhengzhou University People's Hospital, Henan Provincial People's Hospital, Fuwai Central China Cardiovascular Hospital, Heart Center of Henan Provincial People's Hospital, Zhengzhou, Henan, 450003, China.

Objective: Impaired right ventricular (RV)-pulmonary arterial (PA) coupling, calculated by measuring the tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) to pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP), can be used as an early indicator of right ventricular dysfunction (RVD) in patients with heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Patients suffering from HFrEF experience improvements in left ventricular (LV) function through the administration of sacubitril/valsartan therapy. In addition, the albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) score was associated with the fluid overload status and adverse clinical outcomes in patients with heart failure.

Department of Cardiology, Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University; Institute of Molecular Medicine, Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University; Hubei Key Laboratory of Autonomic Nervous System Modulation; Taikang Center for Life and Medical Sciences, Wuhan University; Cardiac Autonomic Nervous System Research Center of Wuhan University; Hubei Key Laboratory of Cardiology; Cardiovascular Research Institute, Wuhan University, No.238 Jiefang Road, Wuhan, Hubei, 430060, People's Republic of China.

Background: Clinical studies on atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence after catheter ablation in patients diagnosed with patent foramen ovale (PFO) and paroxysmal AF (PAF) are scarce. Here, we aimed to develop a nomogram model utilizing multimodal data for the risk stratification of AF recurrence following catheter ablation in individuals diagnosed with PFO and new-onset PAF.

Methods: Patients with PFO and PAF who underwent catheter ablation at the Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University from January 2018 to June 2020 were consecutively enrolled.
