Inhibition of mPFC norepinephrine improved chronic post-thoracotomy pain in adult rats.

Ann Med

December 2025

Department of Anesthesiology, The Third Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Changsha, Hunan Province, China.

Background: Chronic post-thoracotomy pain (CPTP) is characterized by high incidence, long duration, and severity of pain. Medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) is a brain region closely associated with chronic pain, and norepinephrine is involved in pain regulation. But the role of mPFC norepinephrine in CPTP and its possible mechanism is unclear.

extract ameliorates motor dysfunc-tion in mouse Parkinsons disease model through inhibiting neuronal apoptosis.

Zhejiang Da Xue Xue Bao Yi Xue Ban

January 2025

School of Medicine, Hangzhou City University, Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Novel Targets and Drug Study for Neural Repair, Hangzhou 310015, China.

Objectives: To investigate the protective effects and underlying mechanisms of extract on motor dysfunction in mouse model of Parkinson's disease (PD).

Methods: Eighty C57BL/6 male mice were randomly divided into five groups: control group, PD model group, levodopa treatment group (positive control group), low-dose GP treatment group (LD-GP group), and high-dose GP treatment group (HD-GP group), with 16 mice per group. The PD model was induced by injection of 6-hydroxydopamine into the substantia nigra pars reticulata in mice of last 5 groups.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that results from the progressive loss of neurons in the brain followed by symptoms such as slowness and rigidity in movement, sleep disorders, dementia and many more. The different mechanisms due to which the neuronal degeneration occurs have been discussed, such as mutation in PD related genes, formation of Lewy bodies, oxidation of dopamine. This review discusses current surgical treatment and gene therapies with novel developments proposed for PD.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental disorder characterized by several behavioral impairments, especially in socialization, communication, and the occurrence of stereotyped behaviors. In rats, prenatal exposure to valproic acid (VPA) induces autistic-like behaviors. Previous studies by our group have suggested that the autistic-like phenotype is possibly related to dopaminergic system modulation because tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) expression was affected.

Malathion is an organophosphate compound widely used as an insecticide in the agriculture sector and is toxic to humans and other mammals. Although several studies have been conducted at different level in different animal models. But there is no work has been conducted on the toxicological correlation from cellular to behavioral level on surviving species model.
