Background: A number of studies have suggested that there is a need for improved understanding of dento-maxillofacial cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) technology, and to establish optimized imaging protocols. While several ex vivo/in vitro studies, along with a few in vivo studies, have addressed this topic, virtual imaging trials could form a powerful alternative but have not yet been introduced within the field of dento-maxillofacial imaging.
Purpose: To introduce and illustrate the potential of utilizing a virtual imaging trial (VIT) platform for dento-maxillofacial CBCT imaging through a number of case studies.

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have been regarded as promising cathode materials for lithium batteries. However, they generally show low practical capacity. Here we report the design, preparation, and battery application of a highly crystalline two-dimensional truxenone-based COF (TRO-BT-COF) with rich redox active sites, realizing a high practical capacity.

Students' taste preferences, cooking skills, and cultural backgrounds impact their use of food access resources on campus. Meal kits include pre-sorted ingredients, which could address food waste and help to prepare meals with unfamiliar ingredients. The objective of this exploratory pilot study was to develop and investigate the impact of culturally relevant meal kits on cooking skills, food waste, and food security tailored to UC Davis students.

Zein was made flexible through acid-driven deamidation. This increased flexibility was confirmed by the higher release of water-soluble peptides during trypsin hydrolysis. Self-assembled flexible zein nanoparticles (FZNPs) were prepared using the anti-solvent precipitation method.

Anthocyanin (ACN) is a natural pigment with various biological activities, but their stability is compromised by external environmental factors, which limits their practical application in food processing. To enhance the stability of anthocyanin, double-layer-modified anthocyanin nanoliposomes (ACN-NLs) were prepared in this study using pea protein isolate (PPI) and inulin (IN) through layer-by-layer assembly in this study. The preparation conditions of unmodified, single-modified, and double-layer-modified nanoliposomes (ACN-NLs, PPI-ACN-NLs, and IN-PPI-ACN-NLs) were optimized via analysis of their average particle size, zeta potential, and encapsulation efficiency (EE).
