Background: The global dissemination of carbapenem-resistant hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (CR-hvKp) poses a critical threat to public health. However, comprehensive data on the prevalence and resistance rates of CR-hvKp are limited. This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to estimate the pooled prevalence of carbapenem resistance among hvKp strains and assess the distribution of carbapenemase genes.

Marine plastic pollution has been a public concern for many decades; however, transport processes of heavy microplastics to the seafloor have long been overlooked given the difficulties in sampling and modeling. The distribution of heavy microplastic deposition on the seafloor in the North Pacific for 65 years since 1951, was estimated using a particle tracking model with 577,143,840 particles. The model revealed that 22 % of heavy microplastics were deposited over 100 km offshore from their release locations.

Methods: A cross-sectional, population-based survey was conducted in 31 districts for population aged ≥50 years using Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness (RAAB) V.6 methodology and 6 districts for population aged 0-49 years.

Our understanding of speciation processes in marine environments remains very limited and the role of different reproductive barriers are still debated. While physical barriers were considered important drivers causing reproductive isolation, recent studies highlight the importance of climatic and hydrological changes creating unsuitable habitat conditions as factors promoting population isolation. Although speciation in marine fish has been investigated from different perspectives, these studies often have a limited geographical extant.

Objectives: To evaluate body mass index (BMI) trajectories over time and to evaluate common comorbidities across a large, nationally representative sample of youth with Down syndrome (DS) STUDY DESIGN: This retrospective study included children ages 2 through18 years within the Cerner Health Facts database with a diagnosis of DS and a medical visit between 2010 and 2017. Comorbid conditions were mapped into PheCodes (ie, one or more ICD codes that combine into specific diseases or traits) and were included if they occurred in at least 1% (145 PheCodes) of the sample.
Results: Outcomes trajectories were analyzed through generalized additive mixed models.
