Background: Trunk reconstruction following sarcoma excision involves significant defects. Pedicled and free latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap (LDMF) reconstruction is commonly employed for thoracic defects; however, skin paddle design is limited to 10-12 cm to achieve primary donor closure. Paucity of data exists regarding the utility of V-Y advancement of LDMF, previously described for moderately sized thoracic defects.

Objective: This study analyzed inpatient mortality and length of stay for lung cancer surgery in Illinois hospitals by patient clinical and demographic characteristics, procedure types, and hospital and surgeon volume.
Methods: The study analyzed lung cancer patients who underwent lobectomy or sublobar resection at Illinois hospitals from 2016 to June 2022. Trends in procedure type, inpatient mortality, one-day length of stay (LOS), and prolonged LOS (>10 days) were evaluated.

Background: In our center, patients with pancreatic cancer traditionally had Whipple's resections by general surgery teams until January 2013 when a hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) was introduced. We compared outcomes before and after introduction of HPB teams.
Methods: Data were collected from the records of all patients booked for Whipple's resections over a 12-year period.
