Changes in Functional Properties and In Vitro Digestibility of Black Tartary Buckwheat Starch by Autoclaving Combination with Pullulanase Treatment.

Foods

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Grain and Oil Processing and Food Safety of Sichuan Province, College of Food and Bioengineering, Xihua University, Chengdu 610039, China.

The processing properties of resistant starch (RS) and its digestion remain unclear, despite the widespread use of autoclaving combined with debranching in its preparation. In this study, the physicochemical, rheological and digestibility properties of autoclaving modified starch (ACB), autoclaving-pullulanase modified starch (ACPB) and native black Tartary buckwheat starch (NB) were compared and investigated. The molecular weight and polydispersity index of modified starch was in the range of 0.

First Report of Causing Collar Rot of gilo in Ghana.

Plant Dis

January 2025

University of Ghana College of Basic and Applied Sciences, Biotechnology Centre, Accra, Greater Accra, Ghana;

African eggplant (Solanum aethiopicum gilo group) is a nutritious vegetable widely commercialized in Ghana. In the 2021 planting season (May-July), collar rot symptoms were observed on African eggplant on a farm at Domeabra, Legon, and Okumaning in the Central (N5° 48' 11″, W1° 26' 48″), Greater Accra (N5° 39' 34″, W0° 11' 34″) and Eastern (N6° 8' 34″, W0° 55' 59″) regions of Ghana, respectively. Disease incidence was 8-15% in the different farms.

Eremophilane- and Acorane-Type Sesquiterpenes from the Deep-Sea Cold-Seep-Derived Fungus CS-280 Cultured in the Presence of Autoclaved QDIO-4.

Mar Drugs

December 2024

CAS and Shandong Province Key Laboratory of Experimental Marine Biology, Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanhai Road 7, Qingdao 266071, China.

Six new sesquiterpenes, including four eremophilane derivatives fureremophilanes A-D (-) and two acorane analogues furacoranes A and B ( and ), were characterized from the culture extract of the cold-seep derived fungus CS-280 co-cultured with autoclaved QDIO-4. All the six compounds were highly oxygenated especially and with infrequent epoxyethane and tetrahydrofuran ring systems. The structures of - were established on the basis of detailed interpretation of 1D and 2D NMR and MS data.

Ceria-Catalysed Production of Dimethyl Carbonate from Methanol and CO: Effect of Using a Dehydrating Agent Combined with a Solid Cocatalyst.

Molecules

November 2024

Univ. Lille, CNRS, Centrale Lille, Univ. Artois, UMR 8181-UCCS-Unité de Catalyse et Chimie du Solide, F-59000 Lille, France.

The direct synthesis of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) from CO and methanol over ceria-based catalysts, in the presence of a dehydrating agent shifting the thermodynamical equilibrium of the reaction, has received significant interest recently. In this work, several dehydrating agents, such as molecular sieves, 2,2-dimethoxypropane (DMP), dimethoxymethane (DMM) and 1,1,1-trimethoxymethane (TMM), are combined with commercial ceria to compare their influence on the DMC yield obtained under the same set of operating conditions. TMM is found to be the most efficient; however, its conversion is not complete even after 48 h of reaction.
