Unlabelled: Pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma (PPGL) have been associated with low bone mineral density (BMD) due to excess sympathetic system stimulation. Our study revealed low BMD and TBS (trabecular bone score) in cases compared to matched controls. Plasma-free nor-metanephrine and hypertension duration found to be most consistent predictive factors.

We present a case of rocuronium-induced hypertensive crises that occurred twice in a patient with paraganglioma. An 86-year-old woman was first scheduled for laminectomy for lumbar spinal stenosis. Five minutes after intravenous induction of anesthesia using fentanyl, propofol, rocuronium, and remifentanil, the patient's blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR) suddenly increased with no stimuli.

Background: Pheochromocytoma is an adrenal medullary neuroendocrine tumor that rarely metastasizes to the spine. Currently, its specific treatment methods still present challenges.

Pheochromocytomas and paraganglionomas are rare neuroendocrine tumors. The multisystem effects of these tumors on the pregnant woman and fetus, the timing of surgery in relation to the pregnancy, and the pharmacological treatment have several anesthetic implications. Case reports on elective cesarean section followed by postpartum resection of the tumor are scarce.

Unusual skin pigmentation after unilateral adrenalectomy due to pheochromocytoma: a case report.

Gland Surg

June 2023

Division of Endocrine Surgery, Department Surgery, Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital, College of Medicine, the Catholic University of Korea, Seoul, Republic of Korea.

Background: Skin pigmentation after adrenalectomy occurs due to an increase in adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) following adrenal insufficiency. ACTH-induced pigmentation usually appears as generalized hyperpigmentation and is known to appear after bilateral adrenalectomy. We report a case of unusual transient hyperpigmentation that developed immediately after unilateral adrenalectomy for pheochromocytoma and spontaneously resolved without corticosteroid supplementation.
