Aims/hypothesis: UK standard care for type 2 diabetes is structured diabetes education, with no effects on HbA, small, short-term effects on weight and low uptake. We evaluated whether remotely delivered tailored diabetes education combined with commercial behavioural weight management is cost-effective compared with current standard care in helping people with type 2 diabetes to lower their blood glucose, lose weight, achieve remission and improve cardiovascular risk factors.

Methods: We conducted a pragmatic, randomised, parallel two-group trial.

Corticocortical (CC) projections in the visual system facilitate hierarchical processing of sensory information. In addition to direct CC connections, indirect cortico-thalamo-cortical (CTC) pathways through the pulvinar nucleus of the thalamus can relay sensory signals and mediate cortical interactions according to behavioral demands. While the pulvinar connects extensively to the entire visual cortex, it is unknown whether transthalamic pathways link all cortical areas or whether they follow systematic organizational rules.

The droplet dynamics of asymmetrical impingement on moving ridged surface.

J Colloid Interface Sci

January 2025

School of Energy and Power Engineering, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Shanghai 200093 China. Electronic address:

Hypothesis: The depth of research into the mechanism of droplet impacting structured surfaces dictates the efficacy of their applications. The impact stress generated when a droplet impacts a surface is a pivotal factor influencing the efficiency of surface applications, ultimately determining the extent of surface wear. Despite the systematic examination of impact force, there remains a scarcity of research on impact stress and its mitigation strategies.

Calcium signaling hypothesis: A non-negligible pathogenesis in Alzheimer's disease.

J Adv Res

January 2025

Tianjiu Research and Development Center for Exercise Nutrition and Foods, Hubei Key Laboratory of Exercise Training and Monitoring, College of Sports Medicine, Wuhan Sports University, Wuhan 430079, China. Electronic address:

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) presents a significant challenge to global healthcare systems, with an exacerbation by an aging population. Although the plethora of hypotheses are proposed to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of AD, from amyloid-beta (Aβ) accumulation and Tau protein aggregation to neuroinflammation, a comprehensive understanding of its pathogenesis remains elusive. Recent research has highlighted the critical role of calcium (Ca) signaling pathway in the progression of AD, indicating a complex interplay between Ca dysregulation and various pathological processes.
