Nonequilibrium membrane pattern formation is studied using meshless membrane simulation. We consider that molecules bind to either surface of a bilayer membrane and move to the opposite leaflet by flip-flop. When binding does not modify the membrane properties and the transfer rates among the three states are cyclically symmetric, the membrane exhibits spiral-wave and homogeneous-cycling modes at high and low binding rates, respectively, as in an off-lattice cyclic Potts model.

In situ polymerization of cyclic ethers is a promising strategy to construct solid-state lithium (Li) metal batteries with high energy density and safety. However, their practical applications are plagued by the unsatisfactory electrochemical properties of polymer electrolytes and the unstable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI). Herein, organic perfluorodecanoic acid (PFDA) is proposed as a new initiator to polymerize 1,3-dioxolane electrolyte (PDOL), which enables the as-obtained PDOL electrolyte to deliver greatly enhanced ionic conductivity and broadened electrochemical window.

The long-term safety and durability of anchor systems are the focus of slope maintenance management and sustainable operation. This study presents the observed temperature, humidity, and anchor bolt stress at varying depths from four-year remote real-time monitoring of the selected loess highway cut-slope. The potential correlation between slope hydrothermal environment and anchor stress is analyzed.

Hot dry rock (HDR) is a novel green, low-carbon energy. Its development requires the creation of fracture channels in deep thermal reservoirs. Traditional methods such as hydraulic fracturing have limited effectiveness in reservoir stimulation, so a method of liquid nitrogen cold shock was proposed.

The physiology of transient intracranial pressure (ICP) elevations (B waves), remains incompletely understood and appears to involve multiple mechanisms, including obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Transient ICP elevations are associated with OSA and cyclic alternating pattern (CAP) metrics, suggesting a complex interplay between sleep fragmentation and ICP dynamics. Additionally, CAP metrics could complement standard OSA assessments, providing deeper insights into transient ICP fluctuations, particularly in conditions like normal-pressure hydrocephalus and idiopathic intracranial hypertension.
