We developed a systematic polarizable force field for molten trivalent rare-earth chlorides, from lanthanum to europium, based on first-principle calculations. The proposed model was employed to investigate the local structure and physicochemical properties of pure molten salts and their mixtures with sodium chloride. We computed densities, heat capacities, surface tensions, viscosities, and diffusion coefficients and disclosed their evolution along the lanthanide series, filling the gaps for poorly studied elements, such as promethium and europium.

Purpose: To determine whether lens biomechanical or geometric changes contribute to the decline in the accommodative capacity of the human eye, and to examine any differences in zonular function between different age groups.
Methods: Eighteen finite element whole eye models were developed to simulate the accommodative process. Six models were constructed in each of the two age cohorts, from the fourth and the sixth decades of life using data from ex vivo human lenses.

Due to the complex physical properties of low-permeability glutenite reservoirs, the oil recovery rate with conventional development is low. Surfactants are effective additives for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) due to their good ability of wettability alteration and interfacial tension (IFT) reduction, but the reason why imbibition efficiencies vary with different types of surfactants and the mechanism of enhanced imbibition in the glutenite reservoirs is not clear. In this study, the imbibition efficiency and recovery of surfactants including the nonionic, anionic, and cationic surfactants as well as nanofluids were evaluated and compared with produced water (PW) using low-permeability glutenite core samples from the Lower Urho Formation in the Mahu oil field.

This study conducted experiments to investigate the flexural behavior of steel-concrete composite beams with U-shaped sections, utilizing cold-formed lipped channels as web components. To enhance both flexural and shear performance, trapezoidal plates were added to the lower sides of the composite beams. A total of ten specimens were fabricated, with variables defined according to the following criteria: presence of bottom tension reinforcement and bottom studs, thickness of the trapezoidal side plates (6 mm and 8 mm), and the welding method.

Ultrasonic atomization is an object of steadily increasing interest from metal powder manufacturers, both for additive manufacturing and powder metallurgy. Based on the analysis of available theoretical studies, simulations and experiments, it was noted that the average particle size after atomization and the final particle size distribution depend on the process parameters (e.g.
