Background: The location and size of necrotic lesions are important factors for collapse, The preserved angles (PAs) are divided into anterior preserved angle (APA) and lateral preserved angle (LPA), which could accurately measure the location of necrosis lesion. We used them to evaluate the effect of the location and size of necrotic lesions on collapse by finite element analysis, to offer a framework for evaluating the prognosis of osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) in clinical settings.

Methods: 3 left hip models were constructed based on CT data.

Impact of follicular size categories on oocyte quality at trigger day undergoing luteal phase stimulation protocol.

Arch Gynecol Obstet

January 2025

Reproductive Medicine Research Center, The Sixth Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-Sen University, No. 17 Shou-gou-ling Rd., Tianhe District, Guangzhou, 510000, China.

Purpose: To investigate an optimal strategy by assessing the effectiveness of varying follicular sizes on trigger day during luteal phase stimulation protocol and provide evidence for personalized protocol adjustment.

Methods: This was a retrospective study including a total of 661 patients who had started their in vitro fertilization cycle with a luteal phase stimulation (LPS) protocol during 2015-2023. We classified patients into groups according to the size of the dominant proportion of follicles on the human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) trigger day: large, medium, and small.

Malignancies in people living with HIV: A 25-years observational study from a tertiary hospital in Italy.

J Infect Public Health

January 2025

Department of Health Promotion, Mother and Child Care, Internal Medicine and Medical Specialties "G D'Alessandro," University of Palermo, Palermo, Italy; Infectious and Tropical Disease Unit and Sicilian Regional Reference Center for the fight against AIDS, AOU Policlinico "P. Giaccone", Palermo, Italy. Electronic address:

Background: HIV infection has been associated with an increased risk of cancer development and Kaposi's sarcoma, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and invasive cervical cancers have been a manifestation of AIDS. With the advent of antiretroviral therapy, a collateral appearance of non-AIDS defining cancers (NADC) has been observed in HIV positive patients.

Methods: From January 1997 to December 2022, we performed an observational cross-sectional study, involving HIV-infected outpatients with both AIDS-defining cancers (ADC) and NADC, followed up in a tertiary hospital in Italy.

Situations when field researchers are tempted to deviate from preselected sampling plan and to include nearby or related units in sample, then adaptive cluster sampling (ACS) offers a nearly completion solution. For rare and clustered populations, Thompson introduced ACS as an effective sampling method when data is not contaminated with outliers. However, traditional approaches produce distorted results when data includes outliers.

Accurate 3D characterization of osteocyte lacunae is important when investigating the role of osteocytes under various physiological and pathological conditions but remains a challenge. With the continued development of laboratory X-ray micro-computed tomography, an increasing number of studies employ these techniques beyond traditional bone morphometry to quantify osteocyte lacunae. However, there is a lack of knowledge on the effect of measurement parameters on the image quality and resolution and in turn the osteocyte lacunae quantification.
