Terahertz waves are gathering attention as carrier waves for next-generation wireless communications such as sixth-generation wireless communication networks and autonomous driving systems. Electromagnetic-wave absorbers for the terahertz-wave region are necessary to ensure information security and avoid interference issues. Herein we report a high-performance terahertz-wave absorber composed of a composite of metallic λ-TiO and insulating TiO nanocrystals (λ-TiO@TiO).

Molecular Uranium Dioxide-Mediated CO Photoreduction.

Department of Chemistry and Engineering Research Center of Advanced Rare-Earth Materials of Ministry of Education, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China.

The reduction of CO mediated by transition metals has garnered significant interest, yet little is known about the reduction of CO using f-element compounds. Herein, the reduction of CO to CO by tetravalent uranium (U) compound UO is investigated via matrix isolation infrared spectroscopy and quantum chemical study. Our results reveal that a stable carbonate intermediate OUCO () can be prepared at low temperatures (4-12 K).

Holographic light potentials generated by phase-modulating liquid-crystal spatial light modulators (SLMs) are widely used in quantum technology applications. Accurate calibration of the wavefront and intensity profile of the laser beam at the SLM display is key to the high fidelity of holographic potentials. Here, we present a new calibration technique that is faster than previous methods while maintaining the same level of accuracy.

Background: Extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP) represents one of the rarer forms of plasma cell malignancies, capable of impacting a variety of tissues and organs throughout the body. The majority of EMP cases are predominantly found in the head and neck region, especially within the laryngopharynx, as well as in the gastrointestinal tract. While there have been documented instances of oropharyngeal involvement in EMP cases in the academic literature, it is important to note that EMP specifically affecting the uvula is exceedingly uncommon.

Red-shifted optical absorption induced by donor-acceptor-donor π-extended dibenzalacetone derivatives.

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência e Engenharia de Materiais, Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Árido (UFERSA) CEP 59625-900 Mossoró RN Brazil

Chalcones demonstrate significant absorption in the near ultraviolet-visible spectrum, making them valuable for applications such as solar cells, light-emitting diodes, and nonlinear optics. This study investigates four dibenzalacetone derivatives (DBAd), DBA, DBC, DEP, and DMA, examining the impact of electron-donating and electron-withdrawing groups and conjugation elongation on their electronic structure in solvents of varying polarities. Using the Polarizable Continuum Model (PCM) and time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT), we characterized the excited states of these compounds.
