The effect of two (2W) versus three (3W) wave patterns of follicular dynamics and concurrent endocrine milieu of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), oestradiol 17-β (E2) and progesterone (P4) were investigated during one interoestrous interval (IEI) before insemination, on ensuing pregnancy, in 70 lactating Jersey crossbred cows. The findings were evaluated for between [included all (overall) 2W-O and 3W-O cows] and within [after separating pregnant (P) and non-pregnant (NP) cows in 2W and 3W] wave patterns. The propensity of two (58.

RNA sequencing and differential expression reveals the effects of serial oestrus synchronisation on ovarian genes in dairy goats.

Reprod Fertil Dev

November 2018

Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Molecular Biology for Agriculture, College of Animal Science and Technology, Northwest A&F University, Yangling, Shaanxi, 712100, PR China.

A total of 24 female Xinong Saanen dairy goats were used to examine differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the ovaries of goats treated once or three times for oestrus synchronisation (ES). The goats were randomly divided into two groups: one group received three ES treatments at fortnightly intervals (repeated or triple ES group), whereas the other was only treated once on the same day as the third ES treatment for the triple group (control group) during the breeding season. Ovaries of three goats in oestrus from each group were collected for morphological examination and transcriptome sequencing, while the rest of the goats were artificially inseminated twice.

Reasons For Performing Study: While advanced stages of ascending placentitis can be diagnosed by transrectal ultrasonography and clinical signs, early stages can be missed. Thus, additional tools could enhance assessment of placental health.

Objectives: To characterise peripheral dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate (DHEA-S) and testosterone concentrations in mares carrying normal pregnancies (Study 1) and compare plasma concentrations of DHEA-S, testosterone, oestradiol 17-β (oestradiol) and oestrone sulphate (OES) in mares with or without placentitis (Study 2).

Oestrogen induced downregulation of TFPI expression is mediated by ERα.

Thromb Res

July 2014

Department of Haematology, Oslo University Hospital, Oslo, Norway; Research Institute of Internal Medicine, Oslo University Hospital, Oslo, Norway. Electronic address:

Introduction: Oestrogens influence the pathophysiology and development of hormone-sensitive cancers, such as breast cancer. Tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) is a serine protease inhibitor of the extrinsic coagulation pathway and has recently been associated with breast cancer cell development. Moreover, reduced TFPI levels have been reported in plasma of healthy post-menopausal women receiving hormone replacement therapy, indicating a possible link between oestrogen and TFPI.

A study was conducted to assess the effect of thermal, nutritional and combined stresses (thermal and nutritional) on the growth, oestradiol and progesterone levels during oestrus cycles in Malpura ewes. Twenty-eight adult Malpura ewes were used in the present study. The ewes were randomly allocated into four groups, viz.
