Background: Nocturnal blood pressure dipping is crucial for cardiovascular health, but the effect of exercise on this phenomenon is not well understood. This study aims to investigate how a single session of aerobic exercise impacts nocturnal blood pressure dipping in individuals with hypertension who are on medication.

Methods: Twenty hypertensive adults (67 ± 16 years) participated in a randomised, parallel-group clinical trial.

The dataset presented in this data paper supports "The prenatal assimilation of minerals and metals in the nestlings of a small passerine bird" (Orłowski et al. 2024) [1]. The article includes raw data on dead nestlings of a small passerine bird, the Eurasian Reed Warbler breeding in an extensive reedbed (with dominating plant species, the Common Reed located in an intensively fertilized fishpond habitat, the Stawy Milickie [Milicz Ponds] Nature Reserve (SW Poland).

Objective: This study examined the psychometric properties of a newly developed scale for measuring subjective cognitive reserve (SCR) across multiple domains, including nutrition, physical condition, sleep, cognition, willingness to learn, socialization, general health, and life plan.

Method: The relationship between SCR scores and other established measures of cognitive reserve and subjective cognitive decline was also explored. A sample of 402 healthy participants aged 18 to 79 years took part in the study.

Intervalence plasmons in boron-doped diamond.

Nat Commun

January 2025

Department of Nuclear, Plasma, and Radiological Engineering, The Grainger College of Engineering, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Champaign, IL, USA.

Doped semiconductors can exhibit metallic-like properties ranging from superconductivity to tunable localized surface plasmon resonances. Diamond is a wide-bandgap semiconductor that is rendered electronically active by incorporating a hole dopant, boron. While the effects of boron doping on the electronic band structure of diamond are well-studied, any link between charge carriers and plasmons has never been shown.

Because hummingbirds are small and have an expensive mode of locomotion, they have constrained energy budgets. Torpor is used to buffer against these energetic challenges, but its frequency and duration vary. We measured lipid content, metabolic rates and torpor use in two species of migrating hummingbirds, calliope () and rufous hummingbirds () at a stopover site.
